Airbus strengthens its industrial footprint in Morocco by targeting research, technology and supply‑chain reinforcement, leveraging its three sites established since 1951 and university partnerships to meet rising demand and accelerate production rates.

Marrakech Airshow: Airbus bets on industrial depth in Morocco

Airbus confirms its commitment to further its industrial roots in Morocco. The President for Africa and the Middle East, Gabriel Semelas, stated this on the sidelines of the Marrakech Airshow: cooperation is not limited to production; it must now move up the value chain towards research, technology and the strengthening of the supply chain.

The group is no newcomer. Airbus already produces aerostructures and composites in the country through three companies established since 1951. This long-standing presence serves as the foundation for its stated ambition: to step up a gear by developing local technological and research capabilities.

To achieve this, Airbus plans to rely on the academic ecosystem. The manufacturer intends to continue its work with universities and multiply partnerships in research and development, innovation and youth training. It is this R&T aspect that Gabriel Semelas describes as an 'important step' to consolidate the relationship over the long term.

This strategy also responds to a very real industrial constraint. The order book is swelling on the A220, A350 and A330 programmes, requiring a sustained increase in production rates. The group needs reliable suppliers and solid industrial capabilities, exactly those it has identified in Morocco.

French high school student movement: what the numbers say, far from the immigration trial

Since September, high schools in France have been blocked. Demands are school-related: absent teachers, overcrowded classes, Parcoursup. No religious or identity demands. The movement started in Brittany and Créteil. Some politicians blamed immigration and Islam, but official data provides no origin information on those arrested.
