Receive Moroccan survivor's pension by transfer from Europe
According to the Exchange Office, widows residing in Europe can transfer their Moroccan survivor's pension to their country of residence. Article 168 of the 2026 General Instruction specifies required documents, including a residency certificate to be renewed annually.
Receiving your Moroccan survivor’s pension by transfer from Europe
Widows residing in France, Belgium or elsewhere in Europe can have a survivor’s pension paid in Morocco transferred. The Office des Changes authorises this operation for the beneficiaries of Moroccan retirees, confirming that pensions paid by Moroccan public or private bodies can be transferred to beneficiaries residing permanently abroad. Widows receiving a survivor’s pension fall fully within this scheme.
Exchange regulations allow the transfer of this pension to the country of residence, without requiring a trip to Morocco for this operation. Article 168 of the General Instruction on Foreign Exchange Operations 2026 specifies the supporting documents to be submitted to the bank handling the transfer. The first is a document issued by the paying body indicating the pension amount: payment slip, certificate or transfer order. The second is a certificate of residence abroad issued in the beneficiary’s name, or an equivalent document, which must be renewed each year.
The transfer is authorised up to the amount attested by the Moroccan pension fund. The procedure involves two steps: obtaining recognition of the right to a survivor’s pension from the relevant pension body, then presenting the banking supporting documents enabling its transfer. The Moroccan Pension Fund (Caisse marocaine des retraites) notably has a service dedicated to applications for a survivor’s pension.
