❓ Frequently asked questions
What are the motor vehicle tax (vignette) rates in Morocco for 2026?+
TSA 2026 rates vary by engine size: around 350 DH for vehicles up to 8 CV, 650 DH from 9 to 10 CV, 1 050 DH from 11 to 14 CV, and 1 700 DH above 14 CV. These amounts are set by the General Tax Directorate and revised each year in the Finance Act.
How do you pay the vehicle tax online in Morocco?+
The vignette can be paid online via the DGI Simpl-Vignette portal, accessible at simpl.tax.gov.ma. You identify yourself with your registration number and national ID card. Payment is made by bank card (Visa/Mastercard) or CMI. An electronic receipt is sent by email after confirmation.
What is the deadline to pay the vignette without penalty?+
The vignette must be paid between January 1 and March 31 each year. After March 31, a penalty of 100 DH per month of delay applies. A vehicle checked without a valid vignette during the year may also be subject to a fine.
Which vehicles are exempt from the vignette in Morocco?+
Vehicles with fewer than 8 fiscal CV registered before a certain date and electric vehicles benefit from full or partial exemptions. Vehicles belonging to the State, embassies and disabled persons are also exempt. Check your situation on the Simpl-Vignette portal before paying.
Does an MRE with a French car need to pay the Moroccan vignette?+
No, the Moroccan motor vehicle tax (TSA) only applies to vehicles registered in Morocco. If you enter Morocco with a French or European car on foreign plates, you are not subject to TSA. However, if you have cleared customs and obtained Moroccan registration, the vignette is mandatory.
Can the vignette be paid in cash or only by card?+
Online payment via Simpl-Vignette only accepts bank cards (Visa, Mastercard) and the CMI network. It is also possible to pay in cash at the Treasury General of the Kingdom (TGR) offices in prefectures and municipalities. Online payment is however faster and available 24/7.
What happens if I have not paid the vignette for several years?+
Penalties accumulate at 100 DH per month of delay. To regularize a situation spanning several years, you must pay the principal amount plus all accumulated penalties. Regularization can be done online or at a TGR office. There is currently no tax amnesty on vignette arrears.
