❓ Frequently asked questions

How much will I receive with 1,320 contributing days (the minimum)?

With exactly 1,320 contributing days (the new minimum since May 2025), your monthly pension will be equal to 50% of your average daily wage (ADW). Example: if your ADW is MAD 200 (average salary of MAD 6,000/month), your pension will be 200 × 50% × 26 = MAD 2,600/month. If your ADW is below MAD 38.5/day (about MAD 1,155/month), you will benefit from the guaranteed minimum pension of about MAD 1,000/month. With 1,320 days, you have no additional days yet for the 1% supplement.

How can I access my CNSS career statement from abroad?

From abroad, you can access your CNSS career statement via the cnss.ma portal by creating an account in the insured area. You will need: your CNSS registration number (on old pay slips or by contacting CNSS), your Moroccan national ID number. If you don't know your CNSS number, send an email to CNSS with a copy of your national ID and employer information. The downloadable statement is free and available 24/7. Some CNSS offices also accept requests by postal mail for MRE.

Can I buy back CNSS quarters if I have gaps?

The Moroccan CNSS does not have a quarter buy-back mechanism equivalent to what exists in France or Belgium. However, MRE can: 1) Contribute voluntarily from abroad for future periods (12.89% of declared salary); 2) Have past periods not declared by a former employer regularized (complex process requiring proof of employment); 3) Benefit from totalization agreements for contribution periods between Morocco and certain countries (France, Spain, Belgium, etc.) to reach the minimum threshold.

Is the CNSS pension paid abroad?

Yes, CNSS can pay your pension to a foreign or Moroccan bank account. For international transfers, you must provide an IBAN of your foreign account. International transfer fees may apply. The most practical solution is to open an MDM account (Moroccans of the World) in Morocco: the pension is paid in dirhams to this MDM account and you can then make transfers to your foreign account freely from an MDM account. The pension is not subject to withholding tax for Moroccan non-residents.

Can I combine CNSS pension and French retirement?

Yes, combining is possible and legal. The Morocco-France social security agreement (convention of July 9, 1965) allows totalization of contribution periods in both countries to reach eligibility thresholds, but each country calculates and pays its own pension proportionally to periods contributed in that country. You can therefore simultaneously receive your Moroccan CNSS pension and your French retirement (CNAV, AGIRC-ARRCO). There is no cumulation ceiling between the two systems. Similar conventions exist with Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and other countries.

What happens if I die before retirement?

In the event of death before retirement age, CNSS provides a death allowance paid to the family and, under conditions, a survivor's pension. The death allowance equals 3 months of average daily wage multiplied by 26 days. A widowhood pension may be paid to the surviving spouse if certain contribution duration conditions are met and if the marriage took place before death. Dependent children may also benefit from orphan pensions. Rights vary according to the number of contributing days and family situation. Contact CNSS for details.

How can MRE contribute voluntarily to CNSS?

To contribute voluntarily to CNSS from abroad: 1) Complete the voluntary affiliation form available on cnss.ma or at an office; 2) Choose a declared salary between SMIG (MAD 3,111) and MAD 6,000/month; 3) Pay monthly contributions (12.89% of chosen salary) by bank transfer to the CNSS account or via the online portal; 4) Each month of contribution adds 26 days to your career statement. Payment can be made from abroad by SWIFT transfer to CNSS's bank account. Keep all payment receipts.
