❓ Frequently asked questions
How much does renewing a Moroccan passport abroad cost?+
The fiscal stamp costs approximately 500 DH (paid in local currency at the consulate). Add the cost of passport photographs. The total cost is generally between 60 and 80 euros depending on the country.
What is the timeframe for receiving a renewed Moroccan passport?+
The average timeframe is 4 to 8 weeks after submitting the complete application to the consulate. This timeframe may vary depending on the country and period (longer in summer before Operation Marhaba).
Can a Moroccan passport that has been expired for more than 5 years be renewed?+
Yes, even if your passport has been expired for a long time, you can renew it at the consulate. You will simply need to provide additional supporting documents (old passport, CNI, birth certificate).
My passport has expired, can I still travel to Morocco?+
No, an expired passport does not permit travel. Renew it at the consulate before your journey. In cases of absolute emergency (family bereavement), the consulate may issue a temporary travel document.
Can I renew my Moroccan passport online from abroad?+
No, a 100% online renewal does not exist for the Moroccan biometric passport: fingerprint capture and electronic signature are mandatory at the consulate or embassy. However, two steps are online: 1) book an appointment on the consulate portal (consulat.ma); 2) pay the 500 MAD fiscal stamp online or on site. The new passport is picked up at the consulate within 4 to 8 weeks. Uncollected passports are destroyed after 6 months.
