Grand Stade de Casablanca: Pitch Contract Awarded for 92.47 Million Dirhams

The Agence nationale des équipements publics (ANEP) has unveiled the results of the tender for the development of the playing surface at the Grand Stade de Casablanca. The contract has been awarded for 92,473,875.60 dirhams incl. VAT. It corresponds to Lot No. 8, which covers the installation of hybrid natural grass and artificial turf.

The consortium selected combines SOMECOTRAD and ROYALVERD SERVICE SLU, a Catalan company. Of the four bidders, only two made it through to the financial stage.

Technically, the hybrid grass combines a natural grass cover with synthetic fibres that reinforce it structurally. The system includes a forced underground aeration and drainage system designed to control soil moisture. Mobile LED lighting units will be installed to compensate for the lack of sunlight. An intelligent irrigation system with centralised control completes the set-up. Its sensors monitor temperature, humidity and salinity.

The contract is scheduled to run for fourteen months. The successful contractor is also required to provide full maintenance of the pitch for twenty-four months from the provisional acceptance of the works.

This lot is in addition to another contract for the site. In early October, the external development works at the Grand Stade de Casablanca were awarded to the CMS-GTR consortium for an amount of around 2.7 billion dirhams.
