From early 2026, all tax declarations in Morocco must be submitted digitally via SIMPL and Damancom. A practical guide for MREs with rental income or a business in Morocco.

Morocco's Direction Générale des Impôts (DGI) reached a significant milestone in 2026: e-declaration is now compulsory for all taxpayers, whether individuals or legal entities. Paper-based declarations are no longer accepted at tax offices. For MREs with rental income, a company, or a professional activity in Morocco, this shift to fully digital filing has tangible implications for day-to-day administrative management.

The two key platforms to be aware of are SIMPL (simpl.tax.gov.ma), intended for non-professional individuals, and Damancom (damancom.ma), designed for businesses and sole traders. Through SIMPL, you can declare rental income (rents received), download your tax compliance certificate, and monitor the status of your obligations. Damancom allows businesses to manage their entire tax cycle: VAT, corporation tax, payroll income tax, and the business licence tax (patente).

To register on these platforms from abroad, the process is as follows: create an account using your Tax Identification Number (Identifiant Fiscal - IF), which can be obtained from your designated tax office; verify your email address and Moroccan (or international) mobile number; then access your secure personal account.

Should you encounter any technical difficulties, the DGI operates a helpline (0801 001 400 from Morocco) and provides assistance by email. For MREs based in Europe, time zone differences are generally not an issue, as both platforms are accessible around the clock. Please ensure you observe the relevant filing deadlines: rental income declarations must be submitted no later than 31 March each year.
