RAM Suspends 12 Routes: What to Do If Your MRE Summer 2026 Flight Is Affected

Your rights when a flight is suspended

Applicable legal framework: European Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004 on air passenger rights. It applies to any flight departing from a EU airport, hence to the 6 suspended Europe routes (Tangier-Malaga, Tangier-Barcelona, Marrakech-Lyon, Marrakech-Bordeaux, Marrakech-Marseille, Marrakech-Brussels) on the return leg.

Important: the jet fuel surge and geopolitical tensions may be classified as extraordinary circumstances by RAM, exempting the airline from paying the flat compensation. You still retain the right to refund and rerouting. Always request written confirmation of the cancellation reason.

For the 6 sub-Saharan Africa routes:

EU Regulation 261/2004 does not apply. Your rights fall under Moroccan law (Civil Aviation Code, Law 38-15) and RAM's general terms and conditions. You retain the right to refund and rerouting, but the flat compensation does not automatically apply.

Travel insurance: check your coverage

If you booked with a premium credit card (Visa Premier, Mastercard Gold, American Express), your travel insurance typically covers:

Can I get rerouted on Air France or another airline at RAM's expense?

Yes, if you explicitly request it and if RAM doesn't itself offer a satisfactory alternative (date too late, trip too long). EU Regulation 261/2004 requires the airline to offer rerouting under comparable transport conditions. Keep written record of all exchanges.

Will the suspension be extended until end of August?

What if I booked a multi-segment flight (e.g. Casablanca-Marrakech-Lyon)?

If only one segment is cancelled, you are entitled to refund of the entire ticket or rerouting on the full trip. Not just the affected segment.

Are my pet / special baggage transportable on alternative airlines?

Not systematically. Air France, Transavia, easyJet, Ryanair, Vueling, Brussels Airlines, TUI have different policies (max weight, allowed species, surcharge). Check before booking. For ferry, pets are generally well accommodated (often free or low surcharge).

Is there a risk of more RAM suspensions during summer?
